I always have to laugh at myself for spending $50 or more to have wood chews mailed to me. However, a good, healthy wood chew is nothing to laugh at. If you have chinchillas, degus, parrots, rabbits, or other pets with growing teeth or beaks, it's a necessity. And the product that is available at the chain petstores is just not up to par.

One of the very first woodworking things I made from scratch was something I call the chome. This stands for chinnie-home. I was frustrated that my chinchillas spent most of their time on the shelves up high but their sleeping houses that I had purchased at the pet store had no way to attach to the upper part of the cage.
